LORT is the latest breakout hit in the cooperative action-roguelite scene, released in early 2026 by the indie studio Big Distraction. Developed by a team of AAA veterans who wanted to return to the roots of pure humor and chaotic fun, the game strips away corporate polish in favor of high-energy, slapstick combat. The premise is straightforward but addictive: you start as a lowly "goblin tickler" and must fight your way up to become a "god slapper" by surviving relentless waves of bizarre enemies.
The gameplay stands out by supporting up to 8 players in online co-op, creating a level of visual and tactical mayhem rarely seen in the genre. The world is a cursed fantasy realm filled with randomized loot—ranging from traditional broadswords and bows to absurd magic staves and improvised projectiles. The core loop revolves around collecting over 100 unique, stackable power-ups. These items synergize in unpredictable ways, allowing you to create broken builds that can literally slap bosses across the entire map in a single hit.
