About
Enshrouded is a survival action RPG set in the fallen kingdom of Embervale, a vast open world that has been consumed by a corrupting fog known as the Shroud. You awaken as a Flameborn, the last hope of a dying race, tasked with reclaiming the land by venturing into the mist and defeating the mutated horrors within. The narrative centers on rediscovering lost technologies and ancient secrets to push back the Shroud and restore the flame to the world's altars.
The gameplay combines deep voxel-based building with fluid, soul-like combat and extensive exploration. You can terraform the environment, digging into mountains or carving out underground bases, while the building system allows for highly detailed architectural creations using a wide variety of materials. Combat is classless, utilizing a massive skill tree that lets you blend archetypes like the warrior, ranger, and mage, allowing you to switch between heavy melee, precision archery, or elemental sorcery based on the weapons and armor you craft.
Survival mechanics are focused on progression rather than punishment, where food and rest provide significant buffs to your stamina and health rather than simply preventing death. Exploration is aided by a versatile glider and grappling hook, which are essential for navigating the verticality of the world and escaping the Shroud before its time limit expires. The game supports both solo play and co-op for up to 16 players, with a focus on reclaiming ruined settlements and rescuing legendary NPCs like blacksmiths and alchemists who unlock advanced crafting tiers and specialized equipment.
